According to a survey by digital mortgage broker, Habito, the home-buying process is making people so stressed that their sex lives have taken a pounding… and not in a good way.
One in ten couples surveyed admitted that they were so stressed out by the mortgage application process that they’d stopped having sex.
One in 20 respondents said it caused them to sleep in separate rooms.
In response to the findings, Habito drew inspiration from the Kama Sutra and worked with graphic designer, Noma Bar, to create a series of illustrations linking the mortgage application process to sex.

Illustrations included the “Down-payment Doggy” and “The Prime Rate Python”.

Hooray for relatable finance advice
Considering how serious the financial services industry is (despite ordinary people crying out for more relatable and honest money advice) it’s nice to see a FinTech company being brave enough to do something like this.
I don’t know about you but I’m tired of the finance world being filled with uptight, suited and booted know-it-alls with little insight into how regular people live. This campaign is a breath of fresh air!

How to ease the strain of finding a mortgage
I used Habito when applying for my mortgage and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to others. When you’re applying for a mortgage, it can be an extremely stressful time in your life, particularly if you’ve already found the home you’d like to buy and you’re under pressure to complete the purchase.
When you hire a mortgage broker, they’ll take all the complicated bits off your hands so you can focus on other stuff – whether that’s picking out your furniture, creating a home decor account on Instagram ready for the day you pick up your keys, or having celebratory sex every day, happy in the knowledge that you and bae are finally about to become homeowners.
A mortgage broker will help you from start to finish. They’ll begin by assessing your financial situation to determine how much you’ll realistically be able to borrow. They’ll do this by looking at your income, savings and typical expenditure. Next they’ll highlight the lenders most likely to approve your application and give you the loan you need. Your broker will compare dozens – and sometimes even hundreds – of mortgages before picking out the ones most suitable for you.
Often, the mortgages at the top of your broker’s list will be thousands of pounds cheaper over the course of your mortgage deal than if you were to cherry pick a mortgage product yourself.
If you fancy using Habito as your online mortgage broker, you’ll be glad to know that they won’t charge you a single penny for their services. And, if you sign up with my refer a friend link, you and I will each earn a £50 John Lewis voucher on successful completion of your mortgage.
