Hi. I’m Jenni, the founder of Can’t Swing a Cat.
I started this website back in 2014 while on a mission to save a deposit on my first home. In the early days, my blog posts focused on charity shop bargains, frugal date night tips and thrifty hacks.
Back then, I thought that saving money was about sacrificing as much as possible. From travel to nights out to 10-year friendships, I gave up so many things I loved so I could save up for a deposit on a house. It’s not something I’m proud of.
Thankfully, an unexpected breakup in 2016 gave me the wake-up call I needed. I realised that although your future finances are important, you’ve gotta make the most of the present too.
Over the last 5 years I’ve completely changed my attitude to money. As I’ve grown up, I’d like to think Can’t Swing a Cat has too. Now I cover investment apps, empowering Fuck Off Funds and the link between mental health and money.
Here at Can’t Swing a Cat, you don’t need to worry about being judged or shamed. I don’t care if you order a Deliveroo every week or a Costa every day. You’ve just got to find a way to work those things into your budget so that the big dreams get a look in too.
